Xbox Clips FAQ

What are Xbox clips?

Xbox clips are short gameplay videos recorded on an Xbox One, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S with the console's built-in capture feature (Game DVR). Clips can be anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes long, in 720p, 1080p or 4K, and they upload to the Xbox network so you can watch and share them away from the console.

What is XboxClips.co?

XboxClips.co is a free website for viewing Xbox clips and screenshots online. Type in any gamertag and you get that player's public game clips and screenshots in your browser, ready to watch, download or share. There is no account to create and nothing to install. XboxClips.co is a third-party site and is not affiliated with Microsoft or Xbox.

How do I find my Xbox clips?

Enter your gamertag in the search box at the top of this page and press Search. Your most recent Xbox clips appear first, and the Screenshots tab shows your Xbox screenshots. If nothing shows up, check that your captures are being uploaded to the Xbox network and that your privacy settings let everyone see them.

How do I record an Xbox clip?

Press the Xbox button to open the guide, then press X to save the last 30 seconds of gameplay. On an Xbox Series X|S controller you can also hold the Share button to record a clip, or tap it once to take a screenshot. To record a longer clip, open the guide, choose Capture & share, then Start recording.

How long can an Xbox clip be?

"Record what happened" saves anything from the last 15 seconds up to the last couple of minutes, depending on your capture resolution. "Start recording" captures up to 10 minutes to internal storage, or up to an hour if you capture to an external USB 3.0 drive. You can change clip length and resolution under Settings, Preferences, Capture & share.

How do I download Xbox clips to my computer?

Open XboxClips.co on your PC or Mac, search for your gamertag, open the clip you want and click Download. The clip is saved as a standard MP4 file that you can edit or upload anywhere.

How do I download Xbox clips on iPhone or Android?

XboxClips.co works in your phone's browser. Search for your gamertag, open a clip and tap Download to save the MP4 to your phone. From there you can post it to Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat or send it to friends.

Can I download someone else's Xbox clips?

Yes. Search for any gamertag to view, download and share that player's public Xbox clips and screenshots. Players who have set their captures to private on Xbox will not appear.

Why are my Xbox clips not showing up?

The most common reasons are that automatic uploads are turned off, or your privacy settings hide your captures. On your console go to Settings, Preferences, Capture & share and make sure captures are uploaded automatically. Then check Settings, Account, Privacy & online safety, Xbox privacy and allow everyone to see your captures. A new clip can take a few minutes to upload before it appears here.

How long do Xbox clips stay online?

Microsoft removes captures from the Xbox network after a limited time (currently about 90 days), so clips will eventually disappear from your console's cloud captures and from this site. Download the Xbox clips you care about and keep a copy on your computer, phone or an external drive.

Do I need Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Live Gold to record clips?

No. Recording Xbox clips and screenshots and uploading them to the Xbox network is free for every Xbox account. You do not need Game Pass Core (formerly Xbox Live Gold) or Game Pass Ultimate.

How do I share Xbox clips on Twitter, Facebook or Reddit?

Search your gamertag, open the clip or screenshot you want to share, and use the Twitter, Facebook or Reddit buttons next to it. You can also copy the page link from your browser and paste it anywhere. Links to XboxClips.co show a preview of the clip.

How do I upload Xbox clips to YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Twitch?

Download the clip from XboxClips.co first. Then upload the MP4 file the normal way: on YouTube use Create, Upload video; on TikTok and Instagram choose the saved video from your camera roll; on Twitch upload it from the Video Producer in your Creator Dashboard.

How do I record Xbox clips in 1080p or 4K?

On your console go to Settings, Preferences, Capture & share and choose a Game clip resolution. Xbox One records up to 1080p, and Xbox One X and Xbox Series X|S can record in 4K, including HDR. Higher resolutions shorten the maximum length of each clip.

How do I delete an Xbox clip?

On your console press the Xbox button, go to Capture & share, Recent captures, Show all, select the clip and choose Delete, then pick whether to remove it from the console, the Xbox network or both. Once it is deleted from the Xbox network it no longer appears on XboxClips.co.

Are Xbox clips, Xbox DVR and Xbox game captures the same thing?

Yes. Game DVR was the original name of the Xbox capture feature, and Microsoft now calls the results captures. Xbox clips, Xbox DVR clips, Xbox recordings and Xbox game captures all refer to the same gameplay videos, and you can find all of them here.

Where can I find Fortnite, Call of Duty, Apex Legends or Halo Xbox clips?

Every clip on XboxClips.co is labeled with the game it was recorded in. Search for a gamertag to see which games that player has been capturing, whether that is Fortnite, Call of Duty, Apex Legends, Halo or anything else, or browse the recent Xbox clips page to see what players are recording right now.
